How to Turn Ideas Into Action
Making true, lasting change, of course starts with a big idea. But how do you take that big idea from a concept to a real, tangible solution that helps people?
Educators Yamila De Leon and Sarah Tavernetti taught at conventional K-12 schools, where they felt the one-size-fits-all approach didn’t allow every student to realize their full potential.
They had a big idea: create a new education model.
They founded Bloom Academy, supported by the VELA Education Fund, as the first self-directed learning center in Las Vegas, to foster the natural love of learning in all children.
But Yamila and Sarah were teachers – not experienced entrepreneurs or nonprofit experts.
To take action on a big idea, they believe you need three things: a strong business partner, experience on the ground, and a knack for social media.
