Housing for the homeless gets a high-tech assist

Community First! Village, an Austin, Texas-based community designed specifically for men and women coming out of chronic homelessness, is upending the way society thinks about homelessness with its innovative master planned development. And it’s growing! Mobile Loaves & Fishes—the nonprofit behind Community First! Village—is expanding their 51-acre community by adding 300 homes, and with the support of Stand Together is accelerating the strategy for replicating their model in cities across the country.

Others are coming alongside Mobile Loaves & Fishes too, as it takes its efforts to new heights — like ICON, an innovative construction technology company that uses cutting-edge 3D printing technology with the potential to build homes faster and more affordably than traditional approaches. Check out how this technology is helping to build six of the most unique homes ever built for Community First! Village neighbors, and see a house being built with a 3D printer that stands nearly 12 feet tall and 33 feet wide!
