Investing in families to escape poverty
The Family Independence Initiative – a Stand Together Foundation partner — is helping low-income families transform their lives by giving them the freedom to invest in themselves. While programs and services often help the state of poverty to be more tolerable, they don’t often succeed in helping families escape poverty for good. Consider this: 75% of low-income families move above the federal poverty line within four years. Yet, 50% slip back under within five years.
It’s time we rethink what will truly work in helping families reach self-sufficiency, and FII is on a mission to prove it’s different than what you may expect.
