Stand Together partners with VOMO to expand volunteerism across U.S.

On the heels of the historic impact of 1DayLA, VOMO, a cloud-based volunteer platform powering more than 250,000 service projects globally, and Stand Together are partnering to expand access to volunteer engagement opportunities across Los Angeles and beyond, using VOMO’s groundbreaking custom volunteer management platform.

It can be challenging to connect volunteers with opportunities, as well as keep them engaged. But with VOMO’s mobile app, volunteers have the tools they need to connect with service projects and community causes, and organizations can measure and amplify the impact of their volunteer opportunities. It’s a win for both sides — and for the communities they serve. And it shows what can happen when members of a community tackle a challenge they know best, through bottom-up solutions.

VOMO is a key component of furthering the momentum of the recent 1DayLA week of service that resulted in more than 20,000 volunteers providing thousands of service hours across Los Angeles, direct outreach to those experiencing homelessness, the closure of 200 child protective services cases, all 35 California state prisons partnering with reentry support programs and resources, and much more. With VOMO, volunteers and organizations can keep up the energy and enthusiasm from that transformative week of service — and stay engaged wherever they are, whenever they need. Finding opportunities to volunteer and serve your community is now as simple as sending a tweet.

“VOMO is the number one platform to do good, connecting willing volunteers to local service opportunities for maximum impact around L.A. and the nation. We are proud to be a part of projects like 1DayLA to mobilize a generation, and this just marks the beginning as we help make service a lifestyle,” said Rob Peabody, CEO and co-founder of VOMO.

The City of Angels is just the beginning for this partnership. As we work together to build a bottom-up infrastructure of organizations and volunteers, we will mobilize even more people to fight poverty in other major cities across the country.

VOMO’s platform has had a major impact already. With the 2020 national “Be A Neighbor” campaign, the platform was free and accessible to any organization and volunteer wishing to serve their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. This resulted in over 260,000 volunteer hours from more than 171,000 platform users and 1,730 nonprofit organizations, with an economic impact of $8.7 million. That’s the type of impact we want to expand.

“Stand Together is proud to partner with VOMO to bring this tool to those looking to transform communities from the bottom up,” said Will Dowell, director of poverty initiatives for Stand Together. “We’re excited about the potential to scale that empowerment to many more communities in the coming months and years, with 23 of our catalyst partner organizations already offering over 1,371 further volunteer opportunities via the platform.”
