A far-sighted solution for vision care

An optometrist conducts an eye exam on a man

Visibly makes eye exams easy, for patients and doctors alike. In just a few simple steps, the telehealth company’s online vision test – also available as a mobile app – can check a patient’s eyesight and recommend any necessary prescription changes. It’s a convenience that has never been more needed than in the past few months, when access to in-person care was difficult due to COVID-19 restrictions.

But in many parts of the world, limited access to professional eye care isn’t just a short-term problem. Research shows that as many as 2.5 billion people around the globe need eyeglasses but don’t have access to them — and even where there is access, it’s often too expensive to be practical. Visibly offers its virtual vision tests for about one-third the cost of a typical in-person exam.

In the past, the optometry industry has been reluctant to embrace Visibly’s online eye exams – even though the service is designed to complement in-person services, rather than replace them. But in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, as Visibly offers optometry practices free access to its virtual vision test technology, that stance appears to be shifting.

“We want everyone in the world to have the right to see well,” says Visibly CEO Brent Rasmussen.
